About Us....
I am Gail, and I breed Siamese and Oriental Shorthairs. I live in a cottage on a farm in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. I work as a bookkeeper on the farm as well as helping out with the beef herd and anything else that is needed - including looking after Minty the "office cat". The farm mainly grows sugar cane, but has a small commercial beef herd. The Quizzipaws Cattery came into being in 1991 with the purchase of my first pedigree Siamese, Mlise Ted. It was only some years later that I started breeding Orientals. My ambition is to breed blotched Orientals and the first blotched to be born here arrived on the 18th December 2006. Out of the litter of 5, 3 are blotched and I am watching their development with great interest. I hope to keep a fairly even balnce of Siamese and Orientals, though at present I am almost entirely Oriental. I am breeding for temprement and health, not always easy, type is of impotance but of less importance to the first 2 aims. I still show here in Kwa-Zulu Natal, but only in a small way. I have over the years imported a Siamese male kitten from Sharue Cattery UK, and Orientals from Feles Grata, Denmark and Manalishi's, Germany. Grateful thanks to these breeders for allowing me to get these beautiful cats. I presently have 4 Border Collies who are kept in order by the cats. Cats and dogs live in perfect harmony. In the past I used to train my dogs for obedience competition work, which I had a lot of fun doing - but with only moderate success. As you will see, I used to breed Dairy Shorthorn cattle and had the Chalnella herd. We had some success at shows, competing against some of the top breeders in the country. Shorthorns are still very special to me which is why I have included a page for them here. I hope you enjoy your visit to my home page. You are welcome to contact me at any time - even if just for a "chat".
